Gartner, Inc. coined the term “AIOps” to refer to the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in IT operations. AI technology that can be applied to IT operations includes natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning models. Various AI technologies have the potential to automate operational workflows, identify opportunities for efficiency improvement and more.
However, like many technologies, just rolling out AI in an IT organization or implementing a real-time analytics platform does not guarantee that the organization can achieve a significant return on investment. In fact, it can result in the opposite, costing time and resources without providing any measurable improvement.
I have identified three prerequisites that an organization should embark on in order to achieve success in its AIOps initiative.
